From a small town in Italy, Shop founder Joe Castrataro Sr. continued his experience as a butcher in America by opening up his own store. Little did Joe Sr. know, his son Giovanni would step up to buy the business and expand on what he had learned since the age of 16 working at the store.
The First Transition
In 1978, owner Giovanni took over the business from his father, utilizing the mentorship from his father as well as experience in the business, John took the business to a new generation while maintaining an old world charm.
Voted Best in CLE
Voted best butcher shop in 2011 by Cleveland.cityvoter.com, Giovanni’s took to the top rank in the city and surrounds beating others with no website and word of mouth claim to fame!
Technological Advances and Loyalty Programs
June 2015 marked a transition for a newer generation to enter the market of butchery and special goods. Bringing technology and locally sourcing as much as possible will turn Giovanni’s Meats & Deli to the 21st century in an industry where paper and pen are the norm. Loyalty programs were introduced and a heart for culinary innovation to all things meat.

Again in 2015, a great runner up position for Giovanni’s gave the new owners a kick start to own a part of historical greatness. Giovanni’s will boast itself as one of Clevelands best butcher shops as it strives for new heights in years to come.
